Theoretical experimental study of horizontal and slightly inclined liquid-liquid and liquid-liquid-gas flows with viscous fluid and proposal of sliding models for application in MARLIM

The project proposes the use of experimental setups already present at the Experimental Petroleum Laboratory - LabPetro - UNICAMP and at the Industrial Multiphase Flow Laboratory - LEMI and at the Thermal and Fluid Engineering Center - NETeF at USP - São Carlos, which were financed by Petrobras in other research projects. As working fluids for the generation of two-phase and three-phase flows, model oils and petroleum in different viscosities (due to temperature changes), water and air will be used. Measurements of phase outflows, pressure gradients of flows at some inclinations and at some diameters, as well as measurements of in situ volumetric fraction and area fraction with wire-mesh will be carried out to survey the parameters related to the mixing model in two-phase flows and triphasic. Furthermore, it was observed that the liquid-liquid phase inversion, even in three-phase flows, has a great influence on the total pressure gradient, thus this study is also proposed.

Experimental Study of the Shroud-Inverted Gas-Liquid Separator for Pumped Wells Aiming at Optimization and Scheduling

It is a Research Project Proposal (PPP) focused on basic, applied and innovation research. This PPP proposes an experimental study that aims to provide subsidies for the pilot scaling of the shroud-inverted gas-liquid separator. The influence of the liquid viscosity on the performance of the separator will be studied.

Comparison of Artificial Lift Methods for Gassy Viscous Oils

Compare, through laboratory and field tests, different artificial lift methods for oils of different viscosities and RGOs, in order to determine the most favorable region (in terms of API, RGO and BSW) for each method. To develop an electrical impedance technique for simultaneous measurement of void and water fractions in oil.

Non-intrusive method to measure the air flow based on the propagation of acoustic signals

Conventional flow meters inserted directly into the pipe, such as an orifice plate, inverted cone or turbine sensor, disturb the flow, causing head losses and decreasing the efficiency of the system. In this context, a non-intrusive method for measuring flow is desirable. In the present project, a non-intrusive experimental method for flow measurement based on the propagation analysis of acoustic signals is proposed. This method aims to improve the efficiency of the gas flow measurement system and finds application in the measurement of flare gas flow in the oil and gas industry.

Dense Liquid-Gas Biphasic Flow in Horizontal, Inclined and Vertical Pipelines

The objective of the proposal is the study of horizontal, inclined and vertical two-phase dense gas-liquid flow. For this, water and oil will be used simulating the liquid phase and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) the gaseous phase. The use of SF6 seeks to simulate physical conditions in which CO2 would be present in the line, when subjected to the high pressures typical of the Brazilian pre-salt layer. The main focus of the project is the study and generation of global experimental data in two-phase dense liquid-gas flow in horizontal, vertical and inclined tubes.

Multiphase flow in annular geometry pipelines

The overall objective is to understand the effects of oil viscosity, eccentricity, phase volume fraction, inclination and perforated inner tube on flow patterns, turbulence characteristics, phase distribution, droplet size and pressure drop in two-phase flows (gas -viscous oil and water-viscous oil) in concentric and eccentric annular ducts.
